mAKING THE ENERGY SAVING PRODUCT WEBSITE A TANGIBLE EXPERIENCE

BACKGROUND:

Background: National Grid had an initiative to expose customers to energy saving products that their energy provider to sell to them at steep discounts through their partnerships. The National Grid Marketplace launched to enable customers to purchase energy saving products, from lightbulbs to smart devices and gadgets to help curb power use. The grid wanted to promote the website and supercharge awareness. They needed a physical way to promote the digital storefront.

The agency pitched the concept of a traveling exhibit physically showcasing the marketplace’s products to inspire users to explore the website. The exhibit would travel to high traffic offices and public spaces in key cities.

MY ROLE

I was brought on by the agency as creative director to bring the vision to life through sketches, renderings and production. I designed multiple visual concepts for a mobile “smart home” in a five x five foot footprint. This compact experience would allow for versatile and nimble usage in small spaces.

EXPERIENCE VISION

I represented key rooms of the home that could significantly exercise energy saving products. A Bathroom, living room and kitchen where represented with modern minimalist illustrations. products where displayed on a modular pegboard systemS with museum like-descriptions, QR codes, and iPad displays that take customers to the online marketplace.

The Results

AN 15% INCREASE TO MARKETPLACE VISITS

With the exhibit in tour, website visits to the marketplace increase by 15% month to month.

This was the initial project in the agency-client relationship. With the success brought fourth from the project, the agency was awarded a multi year business engagement that has lasted over 5 years and still running.
